Our Thomson Family Holiday…
It was this time last year when I cautiously made my way over to the Thomson Holiday’s stand (actually a replica airplane) at the spectacular Blogtacular conference. Like many of the bloggers in attendance I fancied a go at pitching my holiday idea to the company behind sending so many British families on their hols every year. I challenged Thomson Holidays to keep our 5 boys so entertained for a week in the sun that they wouldn’t be tempted by their gadgets – and they accepted!
I mentioned in yesterday’s post how we very quickly became a family of seven, but since joining forces to become the Uber Family we’ve never taken the steps and braved boarding a plane for a family holiday with ALL the boys! There’s a lot of things to take into consideration when travelling with a large family: How will we all fit in (in a logistical not social kinda way)? Will they all have something to do? What if they don’t like the food? Will the baby sleep? It all became so overwhelming that I never got my bum into action. Cue Thomson Holidays – they took care of EVERYTHING! All I needed to worry about was the packing, the passports and getting us there on time (no mean feat!).
As you can imagine, there’s sooo much to share about our adventure, so I’ll be milking the hell out of this content for a while to come, but for now, I’ll give you the bones of the operation along with some family snaps – ‘cos let’s face it, who doesn’t love to see a bunch of grinning kids with a red glow having a bloody blast!
Where: Family Life Lagoon Princess, Halkidiki, Greece. Part of the brand new Thomson Family Life Collection. It only opened last year, so it’s pristine! I can pick holes in most interiors – but this was spot on! Design-led, ultra modern, spacious and pretty bloody cool. One of the most asked questions is always: “Is there a room big enough?!” We stayed in a 2-bed family room (this is where the 4 big boys stayed) with an adjoining double room inc. travel cot (for the grown ups and bubs). All rooms had an en-suite, balcony and enough storage for Imelda Marcos! If you want to find out more about the gorgeous resort we stayed at, click HERE!
When: Summer Half-Term
Who: The Boys – 1, 8, 9, 12 & 14, plus me and Mr Only Girl…
What did we do: What didn’t we do?! With 5 pools, tennis courts, a beach, 3 restaurants, water sports, a spa, plenty of friends made, all-inclusive food, lashings of sunshine, a play park, kids’ clubs, evening entertainment and oh, did I mention all-inclusive cocktails (other beverages were available), there was so much to keep us busy.
But, whilst keeping 5 boys busy and off their ipads, there still seemed plenty of time for some much needed chilling…
