First thoughts on a trip into my home town of Brighton on a Saturday 3 weeks prior to Christmas = crazy lady! But, on “Small Business Saturday” as it was dubbed, I quite happily trotted (maybe an over exaggeration due to the 6 month bump!) to my fave shopping spots – East Street + up (my most westerly point being Duke Street), to discover a few little gems amongst the still covetable, higher end high street shops.
I love nothing more than independently own shops where every item is thought through, the attention to detail is considered + the service is incomparable. Regardless of where I am in the world I seek these little nuggets that make the retail experience a special + memorable one – a shop to tell my girlfriends about, want to take pictures of + certainly want to visit again.
My first stop came at Workshop – 13a Prince Albert Street, parred back, stylish scandi meets utilitarian goodies for the home with the perfect ethos: “Simple design for everyday living”. I found some really beautiful pieces, that, considering I usually step into a homeware shop + can instantly name the suppliers, I found refreshing + exciting! The smell emanating from the first floor stash of sublime soaps was tremendous!
Just a bit further up the road + you will find ODE (Our Daily Edit), an uber stylish boutique with some on the most contemporary and emerging designers available – with cool brands from hip corners of the globe; this, + it’s all laid out in a simple, white washed + modern interior with a completely unpretentious, friendly vibe!
+ after all that shopping, a girl needs a little refreshment – in the carnation of a 100% cold pressed, raw juice from the gorgeous girls @ 42 Juice – pop into their fabulously designed + branded juice utopia for a juice or two or a whole cleanse!
The fab thing about all the above, they’re available online too, so even if you can’t bear the thought of making a Brighton trip or it’s just too far, take a peek at all their goodies here: Workshop, ODE & 42 Juice.
