It would appear there’s a shoe-destruction elf at the boys school. Admittedly I’m yet to receive the email informing me of such, which I imagine would be in a similar manner to the “there’s nits in your kids class – watchout” text that I receive twice a month, but I have the evidence to show he exists… Whilst they sit at their desks beautifully, listening attentively to their teachers every word simultaneously writing poetry whilst unicorns graze in the playground, the mischievous little imp does everything in his power to destroy a perfectly good pair of boy’s school shoes which cost moi anything between £30-£60, depending on the desperation level I’d reached at not being able to find decent school shoes in the boys’ sizes at a moments notice. This is an easier pill to swallow than that of “my children just decimate footwear with little regard for my bank balance.”
So, when I got an email from the school shoes stalwarts, Start-Rite, asking if my boys would like to “test a pair of school shoes… to DESTRUCTION!” I hop, skipped and jumped at the chance. Little did I know, their challenge wasn’t an easy one.
Bruno couldn’t have been more excited that I told him he’d be wearing “Rhino Warriors” – this definitely appealed to his inner “I’ve watched too much Ninja Warrior” self. As form me: Although the boys still like to believe their shoe tying game is strong, I beg to disagree when we’re already 5 minutes late for school – so the double strap Velcro fastening was a winner in my eyes. Plus, I’d always had drilled into me as a kid, traipsing round shoe shops on 1st of September (no internet in those good ol’ days), there’s no comparison to that of a Start-Rite shoe. After all, what screams good for your trotters more than an heir to the throne skipping round in his adorable blue buckle ups?!
But don’t take my word for it…
Day 1…
Day 30…
A whole 30 days since Bruno started his trail of destruction with the Rhino Warrior School shoes. I haven’t touched them – no polish, no wet wipes, no nothing… eu naturelle! Those shoes have trampolined, played copious amounts of football on concrete/tarmac/grass, skateboarded, scooted, BMX’d and everything in between.
I can honestly say that I am bloomin’ impressed and will be nabbing a second pair of these for Hugo to do his worst on next term.
Start-Rite kindly gifted the Warrior Rhino School shoes for the purpose of this review – but, as ever, all thoughts and comments are my own. x
Thank you! My little monster starts school in September (wipes tears) and he normally trashes his shoes in 5 mins. These could be the answer to my prayers.
